Welcome to Day Tripping, a new feature that highlights Cali's coolest outside-of-LA shopping destinations.

Pastel beach cruisers outnumber UCSB undergrads at a rate of three to one, according to an anecdotal and totally unofficial study of Santa Barbara. A rite of passage to generations of underage Angelenos for its award-winning party scene (and legendary drunchie bites), this coastal city is just as much a grade-A retail therapy getaway as it is a coed rager destination.

A stone's through from some of SoCal's dreamiest wineries and home to State Street's leisurely shopping scene, this beachside town is also brimming with enough spots to fill an entire staycation weekend—which is why we've consulted Style Scroll regular (and soon-to-be mama!) Samantha Wennerstrom of Could I Have That? to suggest her top places to shop, sip, eat and unwind in her hometown and nearby well-heeled nabe Montecito. From a one-stop grub and retail spot to a treasure-filled vintage boutique and much more, see the rest of the effortlessly cool blogstar's picks after the jump.
