Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

While LA's home to plenty of Perfect Saturday-worthy nabes to fill a calendar's worth of shopping itineraries, there are also many road trip-ready retail therapy adventures to be had beyond our hometown. Melodramatic teens of both "fact" and fiction aside, Orange County is home to more than just Disneyland, banana stands, fancy tract housing and big box shopping centers owned by a single ominous development company (though there's probably plenty of all that, too).

With the help of OC-based super stylist Leslie Christen, we've mapped out a guide to Newport Beach and its neighboring coastal commune Corona del Mar for an afternoon of shopping, dining and relaxing. Should you decide to extend your trip for a day, hotels like the Fashion Island-adjacent Marriott Hotel & Spa or the five-star Resort at Pelican Hill are both staycation-worthy options.
