MadisonStyle Reimagines Bass’s Classic ‘Weejun’ Style

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

By its very nature, fashion is a fickle mistress. That said, there are a few items that never seem to falter — an oxford shirt or great-fitting denim, for example. Considering the fact that G.H. Bass's classic 'Weejun' style is currently celebrating its 80th birthday, we'd have to say the tried-and-true penny loafer is also one of those timeless wardrobe staples. Even the immeasurably fashionable Audrey Heburn was a massive fan, which we think speaks volumes.

However, we always love a makeover moment and thats precisely what the beloved shoe brand has done with it's new campaign via MadisonStyle. Since the retailer has been an authority on trends since the 1990s, its site was the perfect place to relaunch the Weejun in a rainbow assortment of colors. Madison cherry picked muses to style the new shades, and the band of beauties ranges from multi-hyphenate models (Sam Black, Rocky Barnes) to social media influencers (Sonya Esman), and even a pageant queen (Olivia Jordan).

Seeing these modern movers-and-shakers complete their individual styles with the 80-year-old footwear — which will officially be up for sale on MadisonStyle starting July 20th — is definitely giving us some outfit inspo, and we're betting the Weejun will be one of fall's biggest shoe trends.
