Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Don't pretend that you haven't watched the epic dance scene at the end of Slumdog Millionaire and wished you were shaking your hips and artfully moving your hands and arms alongside Frida Pinto and Dev Patel. Bollywood-style routines always look just as glee-inducing as they do challenging, a combination that new-to-LA fitness craze BollyX is capitalizing on.
The 50-minute total body workouts are calorie-burning, sweat-inducing sessions led by certified instructors who will assist dance novices and bonafide Bollywood masters alike through the series of joyful moves to the tune of authentic Indian beats. While regular classes are currently held at Gold's Gym in Hollywood and DTLA's Art of Living Studio, you can try it out for free tomorrow when BollyX heads to Figat7th for an outdoor cardio extravaganza. Flash mob anyone?
Sign up here and show up to the shopping center's plaza level Wednesday at 6:30pm with dance-friendly sneakers and water (you will be sweating) to learn Bollywood's best moves amid magical golden hour. If you're impressed, check out BollyX's LA schedule and find out where the next and nearest class will be held.
