Thanks to sustainable brands like Susi Studio and Olderbrother, it's becoming quite cool to cultivate a more conscious closet. One store helping to lead the eco movement is Au Courant, a just-opened boutique at the corner of Melrose and Larchmont.
Owner Kelly Fielding's goal is to support sustainable fashion and make sure that the American and European brands she stocks are producing pieces in an ethical way. Hand-picked labels in the mix include Misa, LACAUSA, Flynn Skye, Jenni Kayne, and Lady and the Sailor, and they all care as much about the environment as they do about making the globe a more stylish place.
The space was designed by Beth Holden of New Theme, Inc. Holden tells us that they "designed the space around a central yin/yang display case and created small comfortable zones for the shopping experience." She adds, "We used a 200 year old Barn that we had dismantled from Germany and shipped her to our shop in LA! We also design and fabricate custom furniture that will be on display at Au Courant!"
Au Courant is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Closed Mondays. Pop by soon, and hit up Au Courant's opening party on July 19th.
