As a legit California girl, designer Lily Ashwell knows how stay stylish on even the most sweltering of days. Case in point, the latest twist on her best-selling linen dungarees. These cute-as-hell overall shorts are equal parts girlie, playful, and — dare we say — sexy. If the latter descriptor seems an oxymoron when describing the traditionally childish silhouette (we've got plenty of proof that it's not) just check out the back view.
Ashwell's made-in-LA 'Jo' dungarees shorts ($175) are just-tailored-enough while keeping a slightly relaxed feel, a fit that was influenced by French New Wave fashion — and heaven knows we're forever down to look like Anna Karina and Jean Seberg. Besides the washed-out red shade we're dying to wear during an Instagram-perfect picnic (always thinking about that photo op), there's also a baby blue shade that's equally adorbs. Both are currently available in the online shop, as well inside the designer's dreamy Venice digs.
