Two of LA’s Best Vintage Vendors Team Up For a Cool New Line

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Rhianna Tycholis isn't going to let the unexpected closing (due to a drunk driving accident) of her cool-girl faved shop Mixed Business slow her down. In addition to continuing to sell her curated vintage pieces and MB Collection originals online and in beloved retailers like Individual Medley and Summer Camp, she's also developed a chic line of contemporary (but vintage inspired, of course) womenswear with another LA lady known for her immaculate retro goodies.

OR is the product of Tycholis and This Repair Shop's Oanh Doan. The two began collaborating a few years ago when the Mixed Business owner began her own line of gauze tanks, cashmere turtlenecks, and wrap dresses (which we praised back in February). After Doan assisted with the production for a few seasons, the ladies finally decided to officially develop their own pieces. As Tycholis puts it, "We finally decided that together we were greater than the sum of our parts."

The result is a stunning, limited collection that offers a halter top, a few dresses, a jumpsuit, and — coming soon — a perfect pair of wide-legged pants. These consciously made garments (small, local production) were inspired by "the '70s, earth tones, and 1915 Vietnam" and the ladies name Lauren Hutton and the men and women in Leon Busy's Hanoi photos as muses.

Currently you can shop OR via Mixed Business's site, as well as in-store at aforementioned Individual Medley and Althouse, and lovers of the line can expect a few new pieces (those pants, tho) this fall.
