Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Considering the wealth of new eateries (that veggie burger at Burgerlords is bae), artist studios, a minimalist coffee shop, and a budding retail scene — which will include rad illustrator Tuesday Bassen's new brick-and-mortar in early August — Chinatown is poised to become LA's hippest new neighborhood, and with the recent addition of a cool creative/shopping space, there's no sign of things slowing down.
Nous Tous, located in the neighborhood's Central Plaza, is a partnership between Citizens of Culture creator Maceo Paisley and Teresa Hu, who previously ran online boutique Koshka. Getting the chance to collaborate on the project was serendipitous, since each had been interested in merging retail, gallery, and event concepts.
Besides stocking plenty of indie (many of which are local, btw) labels like The Palatines, Hansel from Basel, B. Zippy, Objects Without Meaning, and Groceries, Nous Tous has also already hosted a handful of creative events since officially opening a few weeks ago and has plenty more on the horizon. The shop is currently open Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm to 7pm and you can stay up-to-date with upcoming events (including Saturday's I Love Creatives's product-launching workshop) by following along on Instagram.
