If you love ironic art and ridiculous memes, chance are that you've heard of Yung Jake. The artist, rapper, director, and internet sensation is known for his cool hair and hilarious Instagram feed, where he's garnered more than 62,000 followers. Want to meet the man behind those Webby award-winning celebrity Emoji portraits, which he created using an paintbrush tool called Emoji Ink? The CalArts graduate is popping up at a bunch of local hot spots this week — and you're invited to (most of) these free hangs.
Starting tonight from 6pm to 8pm, Yung Jake will be at Neuehouse on Sunset for an intimate opening reception. Then on Wednesday, June 15th from 8pm to 12am, DTLA's Imperial Art Studios will host an art show to premiere the artist's newest work. Thursday, June 16th from 7pm to 8:30pm, Jake will invade the swanky Soho House West Hollywood to discuss "memes and technology." Friday, June 18th at 10pm will feature a house party in the Hollywood Hills with "special guests," and the fun will conclude on Saturday, June 18th from 11am to 9pm when the artist hosts a Pizzaslime pop-up shop at Meltdown Comics on Sunset.
Never heard of Pizzaslime? Prepare to become obsessed with the below Friends spoof tee. ("Squad" is the new "friends," after all.)
