How Perverse’s Affordable Statement Shades Are Taking Over LA

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

A city with near-perennial sunshine calls for an equally never-ending supply of shades — which is why budget-minded Angelenos will dig Perverse's affordable frames. The just-launched LA brand is seeing to it that our peepers are properly protected, starting with its first boutique in Larchmont Village.

Already beloved by blogstars and celebs (Cara Delevigne, Kendall and Kylie, and Emma Roberts, to name a few), Perverse's debut shop stocks its full range of statement sunnies ($40 to $70) and accessories, from out-of-this-world cat eyes to oversized wonders to retro-modern styles and beyond.

Perverse tells us its ambitious plan to roll out more sunglass shops over the next few months: its DTLA Fashion District shop (1108 S Los Angeles St.) is set to open Thursday, June 30th, followed by outposts at The Village at Westfield Topanga in mid- to late July, Westfield Culver City in early August, and Hollywood in early September.

Into it? The brand's gifting readers a free fan to stay breezy this summer; swing by and mention Racked upon checkout to score one while supplies last.

Perverse is open Sunday through Thursday from 10am to 7pm and Friday and Saturday from 10am to 8pm.
