Shop, Walk, and Bike at Santa Monica's Car-Free Block Party This Sunday

Given that the game-changing Expo extension has finally arrived, LA has officially relinquished its rights to blame all of its traffic troubles on the Westside. If you need yet another reason to explore Santa Monica, hop onto the Metro this weekend for Coast, the seaside city's first-ever open streets event.

Happening Sunday from 9am to 3pm, the beachside block party takes over two miles of downtown SaMo with a full lineup of family-friendly activities, interactive art, and (of course), retail therapy. The car-free bash also marks the official unveiling of SaMo's new Colorado Pedestrian Esplanade, which connects the Expo's final stop with the sand.
