Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We've been tracking the progress of The Bloc's fashionable facelift for quite some time, and it looks the the DTLA development is nearly ready for its stylish reveal. Originally set to debut its new directory last fall, the former Macy's Plaza has unveiled even more upgrades.

In addition to rolling out a slew of updates at its anchor tenant Macy's, the pedestrian-friendly open-air center has planted faux grass and revealed bright new lighting for its underground Metro stop. The $180 million renovations also include menswear mecca Wingtip, concept boutique Free Market (a retail collab by the fine folks behind Alchemy Works and Otto Design Group), retro playthings shop Mr. G Toys, hi-tech lifestyle store BrandWalk, and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, to name a few.

Plus, we may finally have a concrete calendar invite: Per The Bloc's Instagram, it'll soon "crystallize the date that The Square opens for one and all. When it does, be there or be, well, you know." (Ha.) That was two weeks ago, so we should be hearing something from 'em soon.

"Once there you will naturally want to check out the luxe new Macy's, the stylish redesign of the Sheraton (hint: drinks at District), the gleaming new USPS outpost, and the gloriously new state of the art facilities at LA Fitness (hint: pool)," the post continues. Stay tuned for more, and see snapshots of the progress in the Insta posts above and below.
