SoCal Beauty Buffs Will Have to Pay a Little More for Drybar's Blowouts

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Classpass isn't the only time-saving service that's demanding more from our pocketbooks. On-the-go blowout salon Drybar is also raising its prices in SoCal starting next month.

Effective Wednesday, June 1st, blowouts will cost $45 (up from $40), Uptinis will be $90 (up from $80), and kids 'dos will increase to $32 (up from $28). The price hike will hit Drybar's studios in LA, Orange County, and San Diego; it's pretty much the equivalent of sacrificing your fancy cup of coffee, which is a small price to pay for nice hair, no?

See founder Alli Webb's note to Drybar's newsletter subscribers below and stock up on blowout packages here.

It’s been almost 3 years since we’ve increased our prices and, please believe me, this is not a decision we make lightly and have done everything we can to avoid this increase for as long as possible. Unfortunately, the cost of doing business in California continues to rise and it's important to us to continue to ensure the Drybar experience doesn't change - including the ability to hire the most talented stylists in the area.

Many of you have been with us since the very first day and we’re so incredibly grateful for your loyalty over the years. Because of that, we have tried our absolute best not to raise our prices. In order to help soften the blow a little, between now and May 31st, you can "load up" on prepaid blowouts at discounted prices for as low as $36.67 per blowout. These can be purchased online or in-shop and never expire.

From the bottom of my heart, I sincerely thank you for your business and loyalty, and I hope you will continue to enjoy Drybar.
