Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Speaking of hat season, now's a good time to break out of that monochrome topper rut. (We're not the only ones with a zillion variations of the black hat theme, right?) We'll be lightening things up with Janessa Leoné's cotton candy pink straw hat, which we've been eyeing since late March when we spotted it at her Culver City pop-up shop's preview party.
Now finally available in stores and online, the USA-made topper features Leoné's signature leather band and gold screw closure. In our experience as a smaller-domed hat wearer, we dig that this bolero style's shorter height doesn't look unreasonably oversized on our heads.
Pick up the pretty new colorway at the cool-girl milliner's pop-up shop at Platform, where she's holding court with SF footwear brand Freda Salvador until the end of August. For those who can't bear to break old habits, the hat's also available in black and gray.
