Shop Women-Owned Business And Save This Saturday in Echo Park

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We love lending our support to independent businesses and we also love to shout out badass boss ladies whenever possible, which is why we are psyched to share the news of Saturday's Echo Park Shop Hop.

Throughout the day, shops, bars, salons, and eateries managed or owned by women will be celebrating and supporting one another by offering discounts and giveaways. For example, pop into Rock Paper Salon between 10am and 10pm for a $30 style, $20 makeup application, or $10 bang trim, save 10% on female-designed goods at ultra-cool boutique Esqueleto from 12pm to 6pm, sip champagne mojitos when you browse the racks at eco-friendly bridal shop Bride from 2pm to 6pm, and enjoy a 15% off discount and springtime punch at Momento Mori from 2pm to 10pm when you show proof of a purchase at another participating business (the list also includes faves Shout and About, Tavin, Ali Golden, and Myrtle, btw). View all the offerings on the event's Facebook page here.

Additionally, shoppers can buy a $1 raffle ticket to win prizes including a Kaleidoscope Kollective gift card, a mini-makeover from Rock Paper, and more yet-to-be-disclosed goodies, with all proceeds benefiting non-profit 826LA. That's what we like to call a win-win.
