This Is How Reformation Does a Bridal Shop

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

From the moment you approach Reformation's first-ever bridal studio, located on LA's busy Melrose shopping stretch, you can already tell that this isn't your mama's wedding salon. Signage on the outside window simply says, "F*ck, you're getting married" in lieu of the cult-favorite retailer's logo, setting the tone for the chill environment that founder Yael Aflalo and team have created for their #Refbride clients.

In addition to offering a range of "whimsical af" bridesmaid and wedding party dresses that women would actually want to wear, the by-appointment pop-up—which may stick around permanently if it's well-received—also hosts effortlessly elegant gowns for the modern bride. (And some aren't even white!) Prices range from a reasonable $128 to a still pretty damn reasonable for wedding attire $488, and although Reformation doesn't offer custom designs, they're down to create a custom celebration for bridal parties who book a visit.

Take a first look at the space above, and reserve an appointment by emailing refbride@thereformation.com or calling 213-736-2810. No walk-ins.
