Alfred's Pink Tea Room Is Pretty Darn Close to Opening

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

As we first reported back in early December, super-stylish coffee chain Alfred has been hustling to open a tea room near its OG Melrose Place location that promises to be pinker than that Julia Roberts's "blush and bashful" wedding in Steel Magnolias (please Netflix ASAP if you don't get that reference), though it might take a bit longer than was originally predicted.

We recently chatted up Alfred's founder Josh Zad, who revealed to us that the expected opening date is this May and offerings will include all our fave tea types: matcha, boba, and even a nitro chai on draft.

With neighbors including Nine Zero One Salon and The Apartment by The Line (and we're still crossing our fingers that Frame Denim is claiming one of the other under-construction spots), this sure-to-be adorable sipping spot will certainly be in fashionable company. Here's hoping it will be open in time for Mother's Day weekend, since that spacious outdoor patio would be the most perf place to bring mom.

While you wait patiently, you can already enjoy a pinkified Instagram feed for the upcoming space.
