Storytelling With Friends at Paper or Plastik Cafe; Debate Debate Returns to The Ace

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Paper or Plastik Cafe

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

MID-CITY—Take in some chill, artistic, community vibes at local coffee spot and hip cafe Paper or Plastik (5772 W Pico Boulevard) with an evening of storytelling known as All Together Now. Listen to neighbors, friends, and regular performers who've come to share personal tales for your amusement and benefit while you enjoy a glass of vino or a seriously incredible cappuccino, not to mention badass pastries and a stellar avocado toast. Get there by 8pm tonight for this free event, intended to run until 9:30pm.

FASHION DISTRICT—In an election year full of comedy and tragedy, the comedy at least is back for another night this Thursday at the Ace Hotel (929 S Broadway). Head to the boutique hotel's theater at 8pm for a side-splitting night of live commentary during the Republican National Debate, featuring special guests Jena Friedman from The Daily Show, Moshe Kasher of Chelsea Lately, Jonah Ray of Nerdist, and many funny others. Grab your tickets here for $15 -$35 and be prepared to laugh (and cry).
