DOWNTOWN—NYC-fave and now LA-based leather bags and accessories line All Hands (1250 S Los Angeles Street), whose bucket bag you might have spotted in our recent roundup, is hosting a weekend of expert leather patternmaking and crafting, assisting you in creating your very own leather crossbody. The two-day workshops are spread over Saturday and Sunday, with the option of a one-day class on Sunday (which functions as a stand-alone) or two-day classes on both days. On Saturday, you'll learn an extension of leather patternmaking to guide you on your own future projects, while on Sunday, you'll be making your own bag. Sign up for the workshop here, and make sure to be there by 11am, with the class scheduled to run until 6pm.
BEVERLY GROVE—Laid-back basics fave Splendid (111 S Robertson Boulevard) is hosting another great event this Saturday, this time with TOMS. Head to the retail boutiques on Robertson, at The Grove, in SaMo, Pasadena, and Manhattan Beach for a chance to shop the latest summer and spring pieces, including the cool-girl fave Traveler sunnies by TOMS. Splendid will have a selection of Nekter Juice Bar drinks on hand, as well as snacks, and definitely go big since the store is offering 20% off every purchase of $200 or more. As is the case with all TOMS eyewear purchases, a portion of the proceeds from the sale of sunnies at Splendid goes to help give sight to a person in need. While you browse, you can enter to win a summer essentials tote, featuring a Splendid bag, a pair of Travelers, and a swimsuit (you can enter online here as well). Stop by Splendid on Saturday from 12-4pm to join in.
SILVER LAKE—Los Angeles County Store (4333 W Sunset Boulevard) is showing an installation of work by LA-based, Sweden-born artist Katharina Stenbeck, opening on Saturday from 6-8pm. The show will run through April 29th and counts as the second exhibition in LA County Store's 2016 Fine Art Series, which showcases work with LA themes. The semi-sculptural installation includes 11 different interpretations of everyone's favorite heartthrob James Dean (or at least his head, in papier-mâché, overlooking a miniature LA landscape). Definitely not one to miss.
ARTS DISTRICT—The Conscious Market is throwing a spring pop-up, offering a thoughtfully curated collection of ethically-made fashion and housewares with a strong focus on designs made via ethical production practices. The outdoor event takes place this Saturday at The Yards (300 S Santa Fe Avenue) and will feature designs from the likes of Echo+Air, Linden, and many more. You'll also be treated to complimentary snacks from Numi Tea, Boulder Canyon Chips, and Stumptown Coffee, so come hungry.
