Afternoon Crafts at Splendid on Robertson; Get Spooked at Griffith Park Zoo

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

BEVERLY GROVE—Causal chic retailer Splendid (111 South Robertson Boulevard) is hosting an afternoon of kids crafting with artsy site Seedling this Saturday from 12-4pm. Stop by with the fam for yummy treats, Easter crafts, and the chance to win a cute, exclusive gift bag. In addition, shoppers can enjoy 25% of the brand's comfy-turned-polished dresses, available at all LA-area Splendid stores on the day (the Robertson location is the only one to boast Seedling crafts, but crafting stations will be set up at any store you visit).

LOS FELIZ—The evil geniuses behind LA's Haunted Hayride are bringing you a serious fright night at the scary old Griffith Park Zoo (4730 Crystal Springs Drive) with the Great Horror Movie Nights series kick off tomorrow night. Gates open at 6pm, and Poltergeist is scheduled to start at 7:15pm (don't go into the light), so get there early and set up a station with lawn chairs and blankets (it gets pretty cold up there at night). The event organizers warn that there will be "spooky surprises lingering in the night," so, good luck with that. Tickets are available here for $15, and stay tuned for more scary movies to come throughout the spring.
