Japanese Trunk Show at Iko Iko; Grip The Mat Yoga Pop-Up at Couture Hollywood

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Iko Iko

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

CHINATOWN—Highly conceptual design spots Iko Iko and Building Block (1727 N Spring Street) will play host to a trunk show featuring two Japanese brands this weekend, namely Hoshi Kana and Himukashi Products. Stop in the studio-stores on the outskirts of Elysian Park and shop a unique, hard-to-find selection of leather wallets (created by Japanese architect/interior designer Kana Hoshi) and handmade clothing and unisex accessories straight from small production facilities in Japan. The event will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 12-6pm.

HOLLYWOOD—DC-based pop-up yoga brand Grip The Mat is bringing its flashy, tongue-in-cheek events to LA, starting at Couture (1640 N Cahuenga Boulevard).  Billed as the perfect alternative to your gym workout, you'll enjoy a dimly lit, flow-in-the-dark, mixed-level yoga sesh followed by signature Grip The Mat cocktails made with specialty, organic mixers. Nothing like yoga and booze, amirite? Join the fun on Saturday from 1-3pm (doors open at 12:30pm for a 1pm class followed by a 2pm social hour), with tickets now available online.
