Last November, our friends at RackedNY prepped readers for a forthcoming flagship of the men's sportswear brand Stone Island, following a successful pop-up in Soho, but it looks like LA was the lucky city to score the Italian company's first US storefront.
The slick brick-and-mortar, located in the Fairfax neighborhood near other cool retailers like Garrett Leight, American Rag Cie, and General Quarters, acts partially as a showroom to introduce American audiences to the 30-year-old brand's signature reflective performance wear (an army of half-headless mannequins in both brand new prototypes and tried-and-true jacket styles greet you upon entrance).
Beyond the outwear, the shop also carries casualwear (tees, sweatshirts, hats, and sneakers), but it's clearly the garment-dyed jackets—created with highly experimental textiles and processes—that are the superstars here.
