On September 21, 2006, pandemonium struct Pasadena as Southern California's very first H&M store opened at 60 West Colorado Boulevard. Local diehards clawed their way up and down the 9,000-square-foot store's stairs (exhibit A, below) to score the Swedish retailer's fast-fashion picks in the flesh, genuinely excited that the store finally landed in their own backyard.
Now, after dozens of H&M openings across SoCal, there's a great chance that store #1 is on its way out.
A tipster tells us: "Although the closing date is yet to be announced, H&M is closing down its location in Old Town Pasadena."
We've reached out to H&M for comment; we'll keep you posted as this story develops. In the meantime, remember H&M Pasadena's good old days below.
