EAGLE ROCK—Venture off the beaten path to La Cañada Flintridge, where you'll find a botanical oasis ready for exploration at Descanso Gardens (1418 Descanso Drive). This weekend, make a trip up to enjoy the oak forests and greenery, which are preserved to demonstrate the state of the LA basin before European contact. This Saturday, as part of Museums Free-For-All, Descanso will offer free admission to its Camellia and Tea Festival, where you can sample teas at the 10am-2pm Chado Tea tasting, take the kiddos on a guided walk of the camellia flower collection (with some hands-on art activities), and enjoy a full outdoor Japanese tea service until 4pm. The tea service and mini sandwich menu can be found here.
PASADENA—You don't have to be covered in them to appreciate the artistry behind tattoos, and this weekend's 2016 Golden State Tattoo Expo at the Pasadena Convention Center (300 E Green Street) will give you ample opportunity to meet some of SoCal's inked superstars. Bringing together some of the most skilled tattoo artists in the state, the expo will also feature a burlesque show, live music, and paid seminars and workshops where you can learn the tricks of the trade. Scheduled to run tomorrow through Sunday, you'll find day and weekend passes, as well as tickets for individual events, here.
