We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Mowgli Surf

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

HOLLYWOOD—Chill vibes will be abound for the kick-off of a beach bum-friendly pop-up at Space 15 Twenty (1520 N Cahuenga Boulevard). Mowgli Surf teams up with Mokuyobi Threads for a five-week-long shopping experience packed with colorful, Cali-cool gear. Stop by Friday's reception from 6-9pm and grab free brews courtesy of hipster fave Pabst Blue Ribbon and groove with Aaron Coyes of Peaking Lights, who will be handling the night's tune selection.

UNIVERSAL CITY—You're allowed to skip your fitness routine on Monday (that's considered "labor," right?) in favor of BBQ goodness and lazing around the house (hand raised over here) because we've got the scoop on a way to burn off those extra cals the next day. Get back on the workout train—in a major way—Tuesday when fitness phenom Jillian Michaels offers a free "Body Shred Workout" at Universal CityWalk 5 Tower Plaza (100 Universal City Plaza) at 6pm to the first 300 peeps to RSVP at jmbspopup@gmail.com. The booty-kicking class will be filmed for a cable TV show, so you might wanna break out the good yoga pants and sports bra to feel camera ready.

DTLA—Monthly, multi-business shopping event Shopwalk DTLA is back this Sunday and some of September's participants include LA-made menswear brand Clade (600 S Spring Street #105), where you'll get a 20% discount, Green Grotto Juice Bar (541 S Spring Street, #133), where you can sip cold pressed juices for 15% off, and House of Vintage (653 S Main Street), where you can party with punch and sweets as well as a savings of 20%. And that's just a taste! Be sure to see the full directory here. The event also includes the fashion-focused Upmarket Pop-Up where you can jam to tunes by DJ Reid Bode and cool off with Si Paleta's fresh, artisanal popsicles while you brows goods by designers like Pale Violet, Jessica Faulkner, and Cuero and Mor. Specific details about who and where can be found here.
