LA's menswear row has landed another smart suiting haven. Barbershop and bespoke suit boutique Shayq has opened just off La Brea Avenue on 4th Street, where it offers a dapper man cave-meets-grooming experience to LA gents.
The 700-square-foot space houses Fade, an in-house grooming and barbershop, and a swanky men's fitting and styling studio. Build-your-own suit options range from $800 for the Fused package (a heat-based adhesive is used to construct suits) to $1200 for the Full Canvas package ("the pinnacle of tailoring construction" for a set that will "mold to your body over time"). Fitting seshes are about an hour, and completed kits are ready in three weeks.
As far as decor, the hangout-ready lounge features exposed brick walls, sleek velvet furniture, and low lighting for a masculine-meets-luxury feel. "Our clients are given the opportunity to come in and design a suit from scratch to their exact specifications, and then we make it to their exact measurements, and then we offer that at a price point similar to what one would pay at a retailer like Hugo Boss," the studio tells us. "And we have a few tricks up our sleeve with respect to our store that leave our clients in awe, but you'll have to come see if for yourself."
