Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
HIGHLAND PARK—In conjunction with Saturday's NELA Art Walk, recently-opened boutique Dotter (5027 York Boulevard) will be exhibiting a collection of small-scale woven textiles created by local artist Robyn King. Using a small, handcrafted handloom from a New Mexico master woodworker, King weaves her beautifully minimal works using a combination of local wool, rare Japanese plant fibers, and organic cotton. Stop by for the reception of these pretty pieces from 6-10pm when Dotter will be celebrating with drinks, tunes, and of course shopping the store's well-edited selection of clothing, accessories, kids' stuff, and cool home goods.
WEST HOLLYWOOD—We've been fans of fierce songstress Fergie since she first stomped (in stilettos, of course) onto the scene as a sexy addition to the Black Eyed Peas. Yes, we love to jam out to her music but we've also kept a close eye on her bold, edgy fashions. Luckily, Fergie is letting us share her style with her very own shoe line,Fergie Footwear. The brand's latest crop of rocker-chic heels and boots in the Fall 2015 collection will be inaugurated at Nordstrom's location in The Grove (189 The Grove Drive) this Saturday with a visit from the "London Bridge" singer herself, who will be stopping by from 3-5pm to meet and greet customers and even sign some shoes (as time permits).
