SANTA MONICA—Luxury brand retailer Ron Robinson (1327 Fifth Street) adds another top-notch name to the roster with the addition of handcrafted leather goods company Waltzing Matilda. This Pennsylvania-founded brand makes their bags, sandals, and accessories here in the USA using durable, high-quality leather and sources recycled materials when possible. Beginning Friday from 1-6pm, WM will offer a weekend-long (Saturday and Sunday hours will be the same) trunk show at the boutique including an appearance from founder/designer Mark Balitsaris who will be demonstrating processes by crafting pieces onsite. The trunk show will also include a new crop of bags made exclusively for Rob Robinson.

HISTORIC CORE—Because one can never have enough well-made leather wares, Friday also marks a pop-up of This Is Ground's Public Shop, located inside their summer work/play space Ground Control (958 S Broadway). For the last few weeks, this DTLA brand—whose predominant product sales are done online—has been selling their cool, techie-approved accessories (cord organizers, laptop/tablet cases and inserts) in person on Fridays from 10am-6pm and this week the brand continues the trend. Check out their summer digs and take a peek at their latest Mod Laptop 2 case.
