CULVER CITY—Artist Paige Smith (aka A Common Name) might be better known on this site as co-creator of luxe bag line VereVerto, but the talented lady has also earned worldwide notoriety for her visual art, most particularly the Urban Geode street art project in which paper and resin cast pieces made to look like crystals are installed amid juxtaposing urban landscapes. Smith has also made large-scale versions of these works for hotels, galleries, and fashionable pop-ups. Now the artist shows off her latest batch of stunning works with a solo show at Smashbox Studios (8549 Higuera Street). "Minute Infinite" opens Thursday with a 6:30-9:30pm reception that features gratis cocktails courtesy of Ole Smoky Tennessee Moonshine. The event will offer free valet parking upon arrival but be sure to RSVP at rsvp@smashboxstudios.com so they'll know to expect you.
GLENDALE—Bingo is back with a vengeance thanks to Bingo Boy and the gang from Legendary Bingo. Their riotous events have been popping up all over LA for the last 16 years, and now the fun touches down at The Americana at Brand (889 Americana Way) for the first three Thursdays of August. The shopping center offers "Bingo Under the Stars" beginning this week on The Green from 6-9pm and promises super cool prizes besides the inevitable good time. A $15 ticket (get yours here) gets you dinner from Katsuya or Trattoria Amici and drinks will be available for additional purchase at the cash bar. Due to the popularity of these outrageous events, tickets must be ordered online in advance. No ticket sales will take place at the door.
