Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Good news for deal-hunting label lovers in OC: Goodwill is going the way of Buffalo Exchange. The non-profit org opened a designer-filled boutique in Huntington Beach, part of its expansion plan to roll out cool concept stores nationwide.
The OC Goodwill Boutique boasts fancy interiors and stocks higher-end inventory similar to merch at department store discount shops—Stuart Weitzman, 7 For All Mankind, and Ted Baker are just a few names recently spotted on the racks, notes the LA Times. The pub notes that it's the fourth LA shop to open in SoCal; Tustin scored Goodwill's first luxury thrift shop (which offers names like Chanel, Prada, and Burberry) three years ago and downtown Anaheim is home to an Urban Outfitters-esque RARE shop, complete with a vinyl listening station.
No word yet on whether LA-area boutiques are in the works; given that Goodwill has been treating us to major sales at its Atwater Village flagship, let's cross our fingers that its swankified shops land locally soon.
