Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If you know a mystic hippie in Orange County that feels lost in a sea of surf shops, direct them to The Yurt. Offering "workshops, goods and events from the community," the concept space opened in San Clemente last month and is already receiving some cool buzz for its conceptual group shows.
In addition to hosting monthly artisan markets and quarterly events curated by Suzanne Walsh, The Yurt doubles as an indie retail space filled with curated goods from locally-sourced vendors. Items range from yoga and meditation essentials to Reiki-infused crystals to home and bath accessories to vinyl and cassettes to fine art and zines. There's stuff for every budget, too: $1.25 to $500.
The Yurt is open Tuesday through Saturday from 1pm to 5pm, and by appointment.
