AYR Fall Launch at The Grove; Short Shorts at The Standard Hollywood

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

AYR

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

WEST HOLLYWOOD—NYC-based brand AYR made a name for itself with its beloved booty-enhancing denim styles, but now the company has evolved to include even more of the effortless, flattering types of garments so many women love to wear. Check out some of their newest goods this Thursday when Nordstrom at The Grove (189 The Grove Drive) offers a presentation of AYR's Fall 2015 line, highlighted by a visit from Co-Founder Jac Cameron and Brand Marketing Manager Max Bonbrest. From 5-7pm, guests can snack and sip while observing the latest looks, then score your own styling session before selecting their new gear. To save yourself a spot, call 323-930-2230.

WEST HOLLYWOOD—We can always count on The Standard to offer us events injected with culture, and this Thursday evening is no exception. The boutique hotel chain's Hollywood location (8300 Sunset Boulevard) presents "Short Shorts" on The Pooldeck. This semi-regular event features a series of short films by local directors accompanied by chats with cast and crew of each. Beginning at 7:30pm, the Q&A will be led by LA Weekly film critic Amy Nicholson and the night's theme of "Innocence Lost" includes such offerings as Jeremy David White's The First Hope and Maura Smith August's Dear Santa.
