MELROSE—This year iconic menswear brand Original Penguin is celebrating its 60th birthday—a pretty impressive feat in the often fickle world of fashion. Since its initial golf shirt debut in 1955, the company has expanded over the years to include womenswear, outerwear, shoes, accessories, and more, yet hasn't lost touch with its roots in classic American sportswear. Monday from 7-10pm, Penguin's Melrose location (8215 Melrose Avenue) celebrates this major milestone with snacks, drinks, and a performance by UK-based indie rock band Life in Film. Reserve your space by shooting an email over to RSVP@originalpenguin.com.

ECHO PARK—This Wednesday—and every 3rd Wednesday of the month—Eastside hipster hangout The Short Stop (1455 Sunset Boulevard) becomes a hot spot for creative gals with Craft Hard, a free ladies' crafting event hosted by reworked vintage clothing maker Vintage Redeux. From 7-10pm, throw back a few cocktails and catch some live music while you go to town on a cool project (past craft nights have produced mini dream catchers and string art) and hang with a rad group of women. Then head into that quintessential photo booth (pictures or it didn't happen, right?).
