We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

ATWATER—Specializing in apparel and accessories that are as reasonably priced as they are widely desirable for women's everyday wardrobes (think soft tees, relaxed "boyfriend fit" denim, and colorful, lacy bralettes among many others), new Atwater retailer Common (3229 Glendale Boulevard) has already been satisfying the cool neighborhood mom set since their soft opening in late June. Now the California-casual boutique is officially celebrating their grand opening with an in-store bash this Thursday. From 5-9pm, stop in to say hello and enjoy elegant bites and libations as well as a 20% discount anything you purchase.

MELROSE—Vancouver-based shoe brand John Fluevog has been turning out its retro-inspired designs for men and women since 1970. For its 45th birthday, the company has been celebrating with festivities in different cities. The extended party makes a stop in LA at Fluevog Melrose (7475 Melrose Avenue) this Thursday when the store invites guests to lounge in their beer garden for good times and local brews from 6-9pm. Fluevog has partnered up with Smog City Brewing Company to offer limited edition custom growlers for purchase (each includes a complimentary original art print) and anyone interested in some shoe shopping will receive 10% off regularly priced merchandise. Since space may be limited, prospective attendees are encouraged to RSVP, which you can do by heading here.
