Erica Hood is a mac and cheese addict who often wears mismatched socks, but you'd never know it considering her super-sleek physique and cool-girl style. A dance machine through and through (she's been moving and shaking since she was three years old), the Texas-born trainer is the queen of dance cardio at Body by Simone in West Hollywood, where she's having the time of her life. "It's literally a dance party!" she tells us. "I enjoy getting to perform dance routines to my favorite music and burn lots of calories. Simone's method is designed so that the trainer does the workout with the class and there's nothing more thrilling to me than leading (and sweating) with a room full of people in the most ultimate dance party."
After excelling in her double-major courses at California State University Long Beach where she received a B.A. in Dance and B.S. in Business Marketing, Hood officially became a trainer in 2009, and never looked back. Before landing at BBS and Cardio Barre Eagle Rock, the badass brunette was a favorite at a slew of LA boutique fitness studios, including Fitbar, Pop Physique, and Tracy Anderson.
Although working out with Hood is tons of fun (her favorite song to sweat to is "Ass Hypnotized" by TJR ft. Dances With White Girls—need we say more?) slacking off when you're on her time is not an option. "My clients mostly tell me that I'm sweet but a killer!" she reveals. "I like the lead-by-example approach by using my own physical strength and technique while motivating the client with positive encouragement. I will push you to your limit and then tell you how awesome you were once you've succeeded."
A little tough love never hurt anyone, right?
