Pointe Studio's Barre Class in Venice; Free Zumba in Brentwood

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Pointe Studio

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

VENICE—Girls with the tight tushes know it's regular barre workouts that keep them filling out those jeans so well. But its not all about the booty. Women (and men!) like Iva Pawling, who founded cute grip-sock company Pointe Studio, go to these classes to feel strong and centered besides the more superficial benefits—not that we're complaining! For this reason the brand has begun Sanity Not Vanity, a series of complimentary fitness events geared to blow off steam from the day's stresses and bring out your inner badass. For the inaugural class, Pointe Studio takes over the beautiful outdoor space at Venice's Juice Served Here (609 S Lincoln Boulevard) for 50-minute workout of tucking and pulsing led by top Cardio Barre instructor Kamilah Barrett. Since the free class is so in demand, it's practically all booked up—except for five spaces reserved exclusively for Racked readers! Email allie@pointe-studio.com and tell them we sent you ASAP to snag one of these hot first-come-first-served tickets before they're gone. Your booty will thank you but so will your brain.

BRENTWOOD—If your preferred method of cardio is the hugely popular Latin dance-inspired craze, Zumba, we're recommending an alternate option for you to sweat it out this Saturday. Each month fitness apparel brand YogaSmoga selects a local spot to offer one free class per week as their "Studio of the Month" and August's pick, Moore Dancing (11943 Montana Avenue), is starting things off with an hour-long Zumba "fitness party" led by Panamanian dance phenom Raul Arauz. Beginning at 9am, Arauz's high-energy workout is guaranteed to keep you having a blast while you're simultaneously feeling the burn. All levels are welcome and you can sign up to attend here.
