HOLLYWOOD—If you're a slave to Pinterest and stylish online mags like Vogue.com or Sight Unseen, you're probably already familiar with the work of designer and textile artist Dana Haim. The Brooklyn gal creates beautifully whimsical wallpapers, but it's her playful pompoms that have landed her a spot teaching the latest workshop at destination for all things cool, Space 15 Twenty (1520 N Cahuenga Boulevard). This Thursday from 5:30-8:30pm, learn how Haim crafts the quirky home decor accessories—including her impressive details like color-blocking and marbling—and some of the techniques she uses to turn them into garlands, wall-hangings, and mobiles. The $75 class fee includes all the materials you'll need as well as a few bevvies. Register here to get in on all the DIY action.
VENICE—It comes as no surprise that Bloom & Plume's Maurice Harris began his successful career in floral design by creating displays for a fashion brand; his work can be described as elegant and refined, yet often delightfully out-of-the-box, much like the way you might describe a haute couture ensemble. Learn the chic tricks of this man's trade this Thursday when Burning Torch's Flagship Boutique (1227 Abbot Kinney Boulevard) welcomes Harris for a workshop from. From 7-9pm, attendees can snack on light bites and sip cocktails while they are guided by the floral master to create their own take-home arrangement in a vintage vase. The class costs $150 (including all the aforementioned) and future florists can RSVP by emailing brie@burningtorchinc.com or calling the store at 310-399-1920.
