Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The Current/Elliott, Equipment, and Joie friends and family sale promises an additional 50% off already reduced prices, and there plenty of rules to go with them. First, know that parking will be scarce if you head to the sale in the afternoon; shoppers are not allowed to park at the building's lot and street parking is pretty limited. The six-day event kicked off Monday and ends Saturday, so we stopped by the scene to see what's left mid-sale.
Once you make your way inside (no large bags or strollers are allowed), there are signs noting that there are no try-ons or split payments allowed. On to the merch: there's plenty of summer-ready womenswear from all three cult-fave labels (including Soft Joie), including denim and dresses for $55, silk shirting or $55, basic tops for $30, leather items for $200, and more—and these prices are before the half-off discount. For men, there's one or two racks of denim and apparel (sorry, guys).
There's also plenty of sandals, boots, and bags starting at $20, and along the walls are clearance bins with slightly damaged and past-season items starting at $5. We're told that inventory is expected to be replenished at some point, but no word when. Take a peek at the half-off sale's pricing and details in the gallery above and feel free to share your experiences in the comments below.
