ATWATER—Sweet farm-to-table bistro Canele (3219 Glendale Boulevard) is probably best known for its heralded brunch offerings, innovative new lunch program Wild, and Mediterranean-inspired dinner faves. But the restaurant also celebrates food-loving friends with its semi-regular Friends Cook at Canele, in which a guest chef—often from outside the food world—is invited to prepare a prix fixe menu. Past "chefs" have included tastemaker/designer Beatrice Valenzuela and actor Andre Royo. This Tuesday, local jewelry designer—and vegan—Jenni Stone of Moon Pi steps up to the plate for a three-course plant-based menu ($29 per person) and guests will be able to peruse and purchase new pieces from the nature-influenced line which is handmade locally with a focus on sustainability. Service lasts from 5-10pm and diners can also choose options from the regular menu. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant at 323-666-7133.

WEST HOLLYWOODThe Grove's (189 The Grove Drive) weekly Summer Concert Series continues this Wednesday with an appearance by two beloved 90's artists who still know how to rock a crowd. Starting at 7:30pm, the Citi sponsored event showcases catchy-hook masters The Spin Doctors and our forever girl crush (we have the cat-eye glasses to prove it) Lisa Loeb. Though the show is free of charge, the shopping center is expecting a hefty turnout, so try for an early arrival to get a great view.

SANTA MONICA—Just in time to get you a perfect summer faux-glow, beauty retailer Bluemercury (1402 Montana Avenue) welcomes self-tanning guru and founder of his eponymous brand, James Read this Tuesday. From 10-11:30am, Read will offer customers consultations and mini makeup applications at no charge and the store will be rewarding those who make a purchase with glam giveaways. In addition, when you purchasing two products by the brand earns you a free tanning mitt to ensure perfect application of your streak-free shade.
