Melrose Avenue Scores Retro Artist Shag's Second Shop and Gallery

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Art aficionados with mid-century modern tastes won't need to head to the desert for their next retro retail therapy sesh. Josh Agle, better known as the swanky artist SHAG, is opening a boutique and gallery on Melrose Avenue, making it his second outpost after his first shop in Palm Springs's Downtown Design District.

Staff at the Palm Springs boutique tell us the LA space is slated to open this September. As far as merch, expect to find the Mod-obsessed artist's technicolor illustrations, prints, books, and more featuring his signature '50s- and '60s-inspired aesthetic.
