Inside Calder Blake's Ultra-Inspiring Boutique in Mar Vista

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Just like everything Amanda Blake touches, the LA-based designer's first brick-and-mortar is sheer magic. Blending Japanese-style nature elements with Scandinavian minimalism, the quaint space offers style and decor inspiration at every turn. (We can only imagine what Blake's own home looks like.)

There are two standout features of the Mar Vista shop: a floating rack filled with Calder Blake's bestsellers (mock neck tanks, vacation-ready dresses), and a huge cube shelf that Blake had commissioned to be built. The shelf—which leads us to believe that Blake would also make a killing in the interior design industry—is filled with a cool collection of giftables, from Victoria Morris Pottery to Earth Tu Face beauty products to vintage Levi's 501 jeans.

Welcome Calder Blake to the neighborhood (store hours are 12pm to 5pm daily) and mark your calendar for the label's upcoming sample sale, taking place Saturday, July 18th and Sunday, July 19th from 11am to 4pm.
