Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
ECHO PARK—We're always psyched to have an excuse (as if we needed one) to shop at Myrtle (2213 Sunset Blvd), a go-to spot for the coolest indie womenswear and accessories designers including a boatload of local ladies. This Thursday, however, the boutique highlights the work of Brooklyn babe Nettie Kent and we're totally cool with that since the jewelry designer's bohemian-yet-minimalist pieces are produced sustainably (with minimal waste), utilizing recycled materials. From 5-8pm, guests sip cocktails and mingle with Kent herself while they shop the collection with the benefit of a 20% discount.
WEST HOLLYWOOD—Last week we told you about style site Who What Wear's month-long movie series every Thursday at The Grove (189 The Grove Dr). For this week's edition, catch Mean Girls, a classic from Lindsay Lohan's golden era, and put the fact that you know literally every line to good use (for once). There will be cocktails, tunes by DJ Lindsay Luv, a burn book, photobooth and plenty of photo-ops, so show up dressed as Regina George or pre-Plastics Cady, or have your whole gang wear pink—even though its not Wednesday. The show starts on the grass at 8pm but check in starting at 6:30pm to indulge in all the pre-flick fun. Tickets for these events go fast, so yourself a seat by heading here.
