Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We don't know about you, but we would sit on a cardboard box in an alley if someone told us that was the spot to nab a foolproof haircut or flawless blowout. (Luckily that won't be necessary.) Industry DTLA vet and hairdresser Christine Choi's new solo effort is called Knives Out—and it's officially the spot to get a chop in Downtown's Arts District.
Following their grand opening last Saturday, Choi and fellow stylists Claudia Saldana and Irene Legaspi are now taking appointments for a wide range of beautifying services including cut, color, extensions, Arrojo wave, and Inphenom treatments (to name a few!). The salon also stocks and utilizes products by exclusive brand Oribe. On our recent trip to the lovely, loft-style space, Christine expertly lightened up our layers with a swift dry cutting technique and smoothed our unruly flyaways with a "baby" Brazilian Blowout while she showed serious hair knowledge by educating us on our mane. We left feeling thoroughly pampered and definitely deserving of some gratuitous hair-flipping throughout the rest of the day. Make your own date for a great hair day by calling the salon at 213-379-1736.
