If you, too, spend your Sunday nights glued to the couch watching reality TV, then you probably know all about Botched, the addictive E! series that follows celebrity surgeons Paul Nassif (formerly of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and Terry Dubrow (currently also on Real Housewives of Orange County) as they remedy extreme plastic surgeries gone wrong.
Given that Dr. Nassif pretty much holds the key to Beverly Hills's Fountain of Youth, it was only a matter of time that he'd launch his own line of skin savers. Nassif MD Bio-Rhythmic Skincare is the collection's name, and it aims to "address the Bio-Rhythmic changes that our skin experiences during the day versus the night, while also rapidly counteracting the negative effects that lack of sleep and busy lifestyles have on our skin."
After checking out the line's three core products—Dawn to Dusk Exfoliating Cleanser ($35), Clock AM Day Serum ($95), and Clock PM Night Serum ($95)—we sat down with Dr. Nassif to learn how Angelenos can avoid becoming a subject on his hit show.
What sets your skincare line from others?
Although there are many good skincare lines out there, I wanted to specifically create a line of products that provide protection during the day but also repair at night. We have these peptides and antioxidants that are incredibly strong, DNA repair mechanisms, and various other ingredients that protect for everyday life. We put together a line that can heal your skin even when you're not sleeping. For instance, LipoShield protects your face from the little light that causes photo damage to your skin when you're sitting in front of your computer screen.
What causes that classic "catwoman" face after a bad plastic surgery job?
Over-aggressive brow lifts and pulling the face sideways too tight. These procedures can give you an unnatural look. When everything is done too extreme, that's when things go wrong.
Is there a less drastic cosmetic procedure that people can do to obtain a more youthful look?
Take in a little skin from the upper eyes, then get a mini facelift.
Do you have a favorite Botched client?
Everyone of them has something great to offer. However, there's one who I bonded with more for a certain reason. You'll have to watch the show to find out who, and you'll know exactly who I'm talking about once you see it.
What are your thoughts on RHOBH?
I don't watch it. I don't want TV, really. I just record my show and watch it late at night. Our show kicks butt! It's on at 9pm on Sundays, which is the best time slot.
What can we all do to take care of our skin this summer?
Drink lots of fluids, wear sunscreen, don't smoke, and don't be around people who smoke.
Watch Botched on Sundays at 9pm on E! and shop Nassif MD Bio-Rhythmic Skincare here.
