Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
HIGHLAND PARK—Though hip clothing line Carleen is based in Brooklyn, their breezy, folk-inspired garments feel undeniably SoCal-girl cool, so we think its about time the brand (previously seen on of-the-moment model Kendall Jenner in Vogue) made its West Coast debut. Our prayers will be answered this Thursday when spanking-new boutique Nonna (6187 N Figueroa Street) holds a reception to kick off a weekend-long trunk show featuring Carleen's Spring 2015 collection. Between shop hours of 11am-7pm Thursday, patrons can shop the swingy new styles. Don't fret if you can't make it to the opening day, as this pop-up lasts through end of day (6pm) on Saturday.
SANTA MONICA—One accessory that never goes out of style is a flawless complexion, but sadly some environmental factors can seriously cramp our skin's style (we're looking at you, pollution!). Not to worry, though, because ion-balancing skincare brand Immunocologie was scientifically developed to not only improve the look of your epidermis, but its overall health. SaMo's Fred Segal Salon (420 Broadway) invites you to get to know the brand firsthand (firstface?) with an event this Thursday from 2-5pm where guests can schedule a complimentary facial featuring products from the skin-saving line, enjoy cold-pressed juices and light bites, and score a free travel kit with a purchase of $185—which we assume will be easy to spend once you check out your new glow. RSVP by calling the salon at 310-907-4022.
