Full Moon Bazaar at WeHo's Mondrian; Goorin Bros Opening in SaMo

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Planet Blue

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

WEST HOLLYWOOD—Normally we fear occurrences under a full moon, but Planet Blue and the Skybar at the Mondrian Hotel (8440 Sunset Blvd) are teaming up for an event sure to make that typically unpredictable evening one to look forward to, not fear. As part of the space's Full Moon Bazaar monthly pop-up, classic SoCal retailer Planet Blue celebrates their 20th birthday (!!!) this Thursday at 8pm. Though the shopping aspect is alluring in itself—brands like Brixton, Acacia, Show Me Your Mumu, and more will be represented—festivities will also include a surprise musical performance, specialty cocktails courtesy of Perrier, photobooths, and opportunities to win crazy-good giveaways. This is an RSVP only event, so head here to make yours.

SANTA MONICA—This summer we're counting on Goorin Bros. to supply us with classic straw fedoras and floppy hats to shield us from the sun while they keep us looking fierce (if they're cool enough for Samuel L. Jackson, they're cool enough for us!) and this Thursday the hat-makers give us all the more reason to shop for what will surely be our summer staple as they kick-off their brand new SaMo location (312 Santa Monica Blvd) with a bang. From 11am-8pm, shoppers can stop in for a custom fitting and enjoy summertime treats like fresh coconuts from Coconut Man, gelato from Dolcenero, and sips from Santa Monica Brew Works. And be sure to stay tuned to the brand's social media (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) all day for your chance to win a free hat.
