ATWATER—Anyone who's popped into dreamy, perfectly-edited shop Individual Medley (3176 Glendale Blvd) knows the bevy of goodies owners Monica and Justin keep it stocked with: organic products from Fat and the Moon and Marble & Milkweed, Hartland Brooklyn soy ink tattoos for kids (or whoever, no judgement), effortlessly cool and comfy men's apparel. But this weekend is all about mom so this Saturday from 11am-5pm, neighborhood floral goddess Yasmine Mei of Yasmine Floral Design stops by for an in-store pop up to create her signature classical-yet-wildly-natural arrangements of seasonal blooms at your request OR place an order in advance by calling 323-240-8140 (hurry! Sunday's pop-up already sold out!). While she does her floral magic, grab mom some handmade jewelry by local brand Moon Pi and a hand-printed card and you'll be set for Sunday.
WEST HOLLYWOOD—Wednesday marked the beginning of the highly regarded annual design event, Legends of La Cienega. Through Friday, celebrations will be popping up all over the La Cienega Design Quarters, but we've got our eye on Friday's Open House at Mecox Los Angeles (919 N. La Cienega Blvd) where from 4-5:30pm local lady-of-the-hour Justina Blakeney will greet guests and sign her debut book "The New Bohemians: Cool and Collected Homes," which is sure to become the next modern decor bible. Serveral other acclaimed design authors will also be on hand and Mecox keeps the California cool factor by churning out frozen margaritas and fresh tacos. RSVP to mecoxrsvp@gmail.com to ensure your spot!
PALM SPRINGS—If taking mom out of town for a daycation is your plan, consider heading to Desert Hills Premium Outlet (48400 Seminole Dr, Cabazon) this Saturday where after leisurely perusing outlets for high-end brands like St. John and Kate Spade, you can let her take advantage of the shopping center's "Indulge: Fashion + Fun for Mom" event in the East and West Villages. From 11am-3pm, guests will be treated to hand massages from L'Occitane, champagne and chocolates courtesy of Fendi, and professional style tips from Chicos. You can also take advantage of special promotions throughout the day from participating retailers. Then make sure to snap mom's photo with the Cabazon Dinosaurs before heading back into town.
LOS FELIZ— Support local designers and buy something beautiful for the mother in your life (two birds, one stone!) at Co-op 28 (1728 N. Vermont Ave) this Saturday when the expansive shop specializing in vintage and handmade goods hosts a trunk show for All Souls Merantile — a brand that re-purposes vintage army surplus materials for their nostalgic-influenced bags, pillows, and pouches — and Amanda K Lockrow, who creates stunning sterling pieces by hand. From 12-5pm, the store brings both brands' designers in to greet guests, and sweetens the deal by offering drinks and snacks.
