Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If you, too, will gladly take a quickie shower in exchange for living in this sunny and (sadly) thirsty land, consider keeping that Cali pride alive at The Golden State's new boutique. As mentioned, the laid-back Venice shop relocated from one stylish stretch to another, and the new space soft-opened last week.
Founded by third-gen Californian Stephanie Stuart, the store is located on Lincoln Boulevard next to Superba Food + Bread. In addition to its own hand-poured, Cali-inspired candles, the boutique offers apparel by Sundry, Iron & Resin, and other LA labels; eco-friendly boots by DTLA's Pskaufman; luxe leather goods by Topanga Canyon's Heyoka; retro sunnies by Raen Optics; art by Deedee Cheriel; outdoor sculptures by artist Maurice Connelly; and much more.
The Golden State is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm; Sunday from 10am to 6pm; and closed Monday.
