Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
For anyone still concerned that Abbot Kinney has lost sight of its quirky charm, mark your cal for International Fluevog Day (aka May 15th). It's when funky footwear brand Fluevog opens its second LA outpost—and 20th worldwide store—in Venice, and it also marks namesake designer John Fluevog's birthday.
Opening next Friday, the shoe shop is taking over Pamela Barish's former space, just a door away from Illesteva. Expect to find the designer's signature sculptural creations, from Victorian-inspired boots to retro-modern mary janes and more. In addition to stocking women's and men's footwear, the shop will offer Fluevog's luxe leather carryalls and an exclusive limited-edition shoe style.
