Otis College's designer mentorship program—and ability to churn out inspiring talents on the reg—is still going strong, as seen in the windows of Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills. The LA art and design school linked about 25 of this year's fashion grads with legendary designer Bob Mackie, rising designer Zaid Affas, and Morgane le Fay founder Liliana Casabal for its annual fashion show, and the impressive results are on display at the luxury retailer until Saturday.
Mackie's group dreamed up deep blue sea-inspired gowns featuring, well, show-stopping Mackie signatures: feathers, sequins, and rhinestones all make glorious appearances on red-carpet ready dresses. Meanwhile, Affas encouraged students to whipped up looks inspired by stormy landscapes for their fall/winter looks, and in Casabal's corner, mentorees continued with the theme of dark Cali moods in fluttery fabrics.
See the windows below and find out what inspired a few of the Otis talents.
"Mr. Mackie asked our entire team to create 'swoon-worthy' evening looks inspired by underwater sea life and landscapes," says 23-year-old Otis grad Molly Workman. "Our design was influenced by the graceful and fierce tentacles of a lion fish."

Inspired by "a dark and stormy coastal landscape," Otis grad Adrian Correa tells us that "working with Zaid Affas was a great opportunity because he knows fine tailoring and has a vision for high-end fashion design." Correa created a long tailored coat with oversized lapels and accented with a "fur-like" textured treatment. Beneath the coat is a minimalist A-line sleeved dress featuring dark sheer organza and metallic fabric strips "to give the effect of the moon shining over the water at night."
